We're Racing for the Cure!
It promises to be a steamy hot day, but tomorrow morning, June 7, members of the DC Metro Moms Blog will join about 45,000 other participants in downtown DC for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure National Race. We are sweating it out and racing for our friends and family members who have battled breast cancer, and so far our team has raised over $2,500. The Susan G. Komen Foundation accepts donations up to two weeks after the race, so you can visit our team site or the general donation site if you want to make a pledge. Three million dollars raised from the 2007 national race stayed in the DC Metro area to fund outreach programs and initiatives specific to the needs here. Sadly, Washington, DC, has the highest breast cancer mortality rate in the United States, and we want to do our part to improve the outcomes for women and their families.
We hope you will cheer us on tomorrow, because you know it's going to be a scorcher, but we're getting sticky for a good cause! And as Devra says, "Schvitzing together will be a bonding experience."
