And the Lazy Mom Award Goes To. . .
My daughter's 4th birthday party is Tuesday. As in next week. I just gave out the last invitation today. The other two I gave out the day before that. One didn't even get handed out, I just called her friend's mom. To my credit I did send out a save the date email two week ago.
I know most of her friends can make it. I just realized last night that I should probably order the cake and plan the menu. With baby #2 due in less than 3 weeks, I've taken the easy road.
If I wasn't pregnant, I would be baking the cake. I would make some cute mermaid decorations, party favors, and who knows what else. Maybe find some themed games to play. I'm supposed to be the crafty one right? I did however, already made the favor bags and purchase the paper goods for the party 3 weeks ago. Before I hit that fatigue part of the pregnancy. All that is in a bag in the closet. All the food and cake I'm going pick up the morning of her party while she's in preschool. I'm no even going to cook. Finger food, anyone?
My daughter's birthday is a week after her party. The baby is due the week after that. (Follow?) So, the smart mom that I am, decided to hold her party a week early. With my luck, the baby will arrive early just to spite my plans.
That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. We'll have a crafty birthday party for her next year. Or maybe the year after that.
So, keep your fingers crossed baby #2 waits until after his sister's birthday party to arrive but not on her actual birthday. I'm not asking for a lot. Sort of.

Thien-Kim has been taking lots of naps instead of planning her daughter's birthday party. She's also sneaking in some blogging time at Passion and Art and her new craft blog, Cup of Creativi-Tea.
Yes, that's my cake I made for the girl's first birthday party.
