To see your offspring, the product of your loins, grow and become independent is a wonderful thing...
in some ways.
There is a price to pay...
Are you reading this while your little one sits on the floor in his or her adorable matching outfit... complete with matching socks?
Are you? Enjoy it. Those days are gone for me...
My son never used to care about what he wore... so I could dress him!
But now, he does care... he just doesn't care if it matches or not.
He's picking out his own clothes and (Mom Victory... wait for it...) getting dressed completely by himself!
We used bribery for the latter... Hey! Don't throw stones!
But what price did I pay?
His favorite, 'go-to-even-when-they-are-dirty' articles of clothing are: his orange pants and his blue blazer...
Yep. Orange Pants and a Blue Blazer.
Plus, the orange pants are becoming highwaters, no, they are highwaters... He doesn't care, his response, 'I'll wear them for the rest of the winter and then you can cut them off and make them into shorts!'
The thing that I can't argue with is, his retort to everything- "I'm a Big Boy."
He is a big boy, and I'm so grateful;
But now he has decided that since he goes to 'real school' (kindergarten), he will have his own 'classroom' to go over daily lessons and Letter People.
Oh, wait! You've never heard of Letter People? Oh, you must have small children, nursery school age...
Prepare yourself for... Letter People!
They're great, educational, promote reading and writing...
AND THEY ARE ALL OVER MY HOUSE!
Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful...
But I think I liked his 'steering wheel' phase better (we'd make steering wheels out of paper plates... Every... Day) and that bordered on the obsessive... But you can stack paper plates up so quickly and neatly!
I think, since he is a 'big boy' now, I will introduce to him a
new concept/phase...
The 'You are such a Big Boy, you can easily pick up all your Letter People, and your dirty clothes that are carelessly strewn all over your room, after you change clothes' Concept/Phase.
Yes, that is our next phase.
Yeah, I know,
